ROTEX GS Couplings
Engineering selection page for KTR ROTEX GS backlash-free jaw couplings - catalogue sizes, torque, speed, dimensions and spider compatibility.
Family overview
Backlash-free jaw couplings
KTR ROTEX GS couplings are pre-stressed backlash-free jaw couplings with elastomer spiders under compression. Aluminium hubs cover sizes 5 to 38; steel hubs cover sizes 42 to 90 in the standard catalogue range.
Engineering characteristics
Selection fundamentals
- Nominal torque ratings in the catalogue tables reference 98 ShA-GS spider selection unless a stiffness row states another spider basis.
- Maximum speed values use Hub Type 1.0 as the primary catalogue basis.
- Spider hardness and material govern temperature range, damping and torsional stiffness.
- Alternate hub configurations (HP, P, Compact, DKM, ZR/ZRS) are described at family level only on this page.
Selection guidance
Choosing a GS size
- Define shaft bore, nominal torque duty and maximum operating speed.
- Compare outside diameter and overall length against machine envelope constraints.
- Select spider hardness for temperature, damping and stiffness requirements using the spider reference table.
- Confirm misalignment limits against duty speed and selected spider where catalogue data is stated.
- Open the size PDP for catalogue dimensions before sending an engineering enquiry.
ROTEX GS size range
Select a catalogue size to review bore, torque, speed, dimensions and spider compatibility.
ROTEX GS elastomer spider range
Spider hardness and material selection governs damping, temperature limits and torsional stiffness. Compatible size ranges are defined per spider designation in the catalogue tables.
| Spider | Hardness | Material | Temperature range | Application characteristics |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 80 ShA-GS | 80 Shore A | Polyurethane | -50 C to +80 C | Exceptional vibration damping; ideal for electrical measuring systems. |
| 92 ShA-GS | 92 Shore A | Polyurethane | -40 C to +90 C | Standard automation, control systems, and main spindle drives. |
| 98 ShA-GS | 98 Shore A | Polyurethane | -30 C to +90 C | Standard high-dynamic positioning drives and machine spindles. |
| 52 ShD-S-GS | 52 Shore D | Polyurethane | -40 C to +120 C | Thermally expanded positioning; permanently pressure-resistant. |
| 57 ShD-GS | 57 Shore D | Polyurethane | -30 C to +90 C | Spindles with high-rated torques; medium-low damping limits. |
| 64 ShD-GS | 64 Shore D | Polyurethane | -20 C to +110 C | High torsional rigidity; suited for heavy-load AC servo drives. |
| 64 ShD-H-GS | 64 Shore D | Hytrel | -50 C to +120 C | Designed for planetary gears and backlash-free gear drives. |
| 72 ShD-GS | 72 Shore D | Polyurethane | -20 C to +110 C | High torque/torsional rigidity; for indexing tables. |
| 72 ShD-H-GS | 72 Shore D | Hytrel | -50 C to +120 C | Extreme torsional spring stiffness; high-speed servo axes. |
